New CBeebies Presenters On Our Screens

You may have noticed that since Monday, Chris Jarvis and Pui Fan Lee have been notably absent from CBeebies. Instead two new faces have been presenting Discover & Do and The Bedtime Hour to allow Chris and Pui time to make their new show, Show Me Show Me, which airs later this year.

Alex Winters, a 32-year-old trained actor, has previously appeared as a supporting artist in Torchwood and Doctor Who, as well as several theatre projects.  Interesting fact: he also works as a picture framer!

Alex is not a stranger to CBeebies: ”We’ve been doing rehearsals and recording for about two weeks now and it’s been amazing fun. My daughter is a huge fan of the channel so it’s a bit strange for me to now be introducing her favourite shows and working alongside the likes of Sid and Andy. It’s an absolute treat. I’m not sure how she’ll react when she sees it’s me on the telly though!”

29-year-old Hackney girl Cerrie Burnell studied acting in Manchester and trained in Brazil before going on to appear in shows including Holby City, Eastenders and Comedy Lab.  She has also written plays and worked as a teaching assistant in a special needs school.

Cerrie said: “I’m really passionate about firing up kids’ imaginations, so this is a dream job come true for me, especially as I also have a young daughter. I’ve never done tv presenting before so its been brilliant fun getting to ice cakes, get covered in glitter and read bedtime stories. I can hardly believe we’re about to broadcast right across the nation!”

If you want to know more about Cerrie and Alex, they’ve recorded a special introductory message for parents at bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/grownups.
