Portable North Pole – My Kids TV Advent Calendar 2009 – Day 2

Portable North Pole

Day 2 of the My Kids TV Advent Calendar 2009 takes us to the North Pole. Well actually, it brings the North Pole to us! Santa has embraced the 21st century and created the Portable North Pole so he can communicate with us from afar.

This site will ask you a number of questions about your child (name, age, favourite toy, how they’ve been good – the usual Santa-style questions) and ask you to upload a photo of them. Then the site will create a personalised video message for your son or daughter, incorporating the answers to the questions and their picture. The end result is amazing. Our little boy, who is four, loved the fact that Santa knew his name and told him he had been good!

You will be sent a password so you can watch your video at your video at any point. You can also send the address to friends or family so they can look. You can even create similar videos for naughty or nice adults!

Try the Portable North Pole now!

Please help some-one as my boys would love this. Have downloaded adobe flash just in case mine was not up to date. Could it be something to do with Norton2010 antivirus software? Thanks to Ryan and to everyone for your interest in Portable North
Pole. We’ve had a blast putting it together for you. This year’s
version is even more sophisticated than last year’s. Sometimes, local
servers and computers can find PNP a challenge, which is why we have a 7/7 technical service available to you at support@portablenorthpole.tv. We’ve also set up a FAQ that you might
find helpful at http://portablenorthpole.tv/troubleshooting. If you’re not receiving your confirmation email, check your spam folders in case your system has sent it there.

Thanks again for your patience – we think it’s worth it, and think you will too.

We hope your children, friends and family will enjoy PNP and we wish
you and yours all the best this holiday season.

Absolutely fantastic, my 4 year old and 2 year old were mesmerised! Even did a naughty boy one for my hubby, brilliant!

  • Tre said:

    Made several of these.
One that didn’t work I re-did several times without success.

I figured it might have had trouble with some non alpha characters in the answers, possible apostophes and single quotes, numbers and a less than sign < . Removed all of these, then it worked.

My 5yr old took this hook line & sinker.
Bit of a worry actually, but lots of fun

I have been trying for the past 2 hours and just cannot get it sorted, I have tried the trouble shooting suggestions but to now avail, It is a great idea , but hey try and sort it out, I’ve wasted a whole night.

  • Suzanne said:

AAARRGGGHHHHH! If I see that ‘Oops!’ Error message one more time I’m going to scream!! Been trying for 3 hours now and takes about 30 to 40 attempts at submitting each page before it works, then now, cruelly stuck on the last page which just errors eveytime it’s driving me mad! I too am heading towards wasting a whole night!!

  • dom said:

been trying for 5 hours!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! all i get is Oops 404 on step 5

  • marty said:

been trying for the past 3 days no joy very disapointed………..

  • Ryan Jarrett (author) said:

Here are a few pointers that may help:

Make sure you answer all the questions, especially the one about which country you are in.

Try to avoid characters like speech marks (“), apostrophes (‘) and
greater than (>)/less than (< ) signs. These can do funny things.

Some times the site is busier than others, so keep trying, or try again at a later time. You can press F5 to refresh the page if you get a 404 error, or press the Back button in your browser and resubmit the form.

If this still doesn't work, try installing Google Chrome. This is a web browser from Google, and is the one that I use. Personally I’ve managed to get PNP to work every time with Chrome.

I hope these tips will help to get Portable North Pole working on your computer. It really is worth persevering.

As CEO of UgroupMedia, creators of Portable North Pole, I want to apologize personally for the problems some users are experiencing with the PNP interface. PNP’s lead developer worked through most of the night to further optimize the portablenorthpole.tv site, in response to the exceptionally heavy traffic the site is having to manage as we approach Christmas. We’d encourage you to return to the site at a later time if you’re experiencing problems, as they are temporary. We thank you again for your patience and understanding, and wish all of you a joyful holiday season.

    Sincerly,

    Alexandre Bérard
    CEO UgroupMedia

Been trying this for 4 hours, managed to get to the end (eventually) but after clicking ok I get thrown back to the beginning again with no e-mail forthcoming, have tried several times, used the tips given, used google chrome On my most recent attempts I do not have the option to include a photograph which I would really prefer to do to add to the personalisation, I have cleared my browser and still no joy. Disappointed as I have heard it is really good, any further help would be appreciated.

  • Fran said:

Well, it is hard to accept your apology. It isn’t working on the day we wanted it to. What a waste of everyone’s time!

  • Fran said:

What a darn shame. On the day we wanted it to work, it isn’t working. Waste of everyone’s time!
