Does your child love In The Night Garden?  Does your son or daughter love building blocks? Well, here’s some good news!
BBC Worldwide has forged a deal with Mega Brands, which owns the  Mega Bloks brand, to create playsets based on In the Night Garden.  That’s right – Igglepiggle and Makka Pakke will be recreated in all their blocky glory!  Expect to see the new sets in the shops in time for Christmas 2009.

Last year, when the BBC lost the rights to broadcast Australian soap Neighbours, a 25-minute hole appeared in a prime teatime slot, the slot which bridged the gap from children’s programming and adult programming.  Instead of filling this slot with a similar show, or even more children’s programs, it was decided to bring over The Weakest Link from BBC2 to BBC1.

Starting this Monday (9th Feb) a run of new In The Night Garden episodes will be shown on CBeebies and, for the first time, on the BBC HD channel.
Continuing as a staple of the CBeebies Bedtime Hour, 20 brand new episodes will be broadcast simultaneously on both channels at 6pm.  So now you can watch Igglepiggle, Upsy Daisy, Makka Pakka and the rest of the Night Garden residents even clearer than before!
